2017 Gaza 5K - Chicago
We are thrilled to be bringing the Gaza 5K back to Chicago for a second time on April 29, 2017!
Early bird registration expired Wednesday, April 12.
Registration CLOSES at midnight, Friday, April 28. There is NO onsite registration, so if you want to participate you MUST sign up in advance.
WHY WE RUN
Proceeds from the Gaza 5K walk/run benefit UNRWA’s Community Mental Health Programme, which provides psychosocial support to Palestine refugee children in Gaza suffering from trauma due to repeated Israeli military assaults and the continued blockade. The situation is dire - 51% of children in Gaza suffer from PTSD as a result of the 2014 Israeli assault.
When you join the Gaza 5K movement, you are helping provide these children with critically needed counseling services, offering them a safe space to express their emotions and fears, and the opportunity to work with trained counselors to learn valuable coping skills. Learn more at gaza5k.org
Fundraising is the key to providing psychosocial support to Palestine refugee children in Gaza. While the cause is the most important thing, we also have some perks from Palestine to get you at the top of your fundraising game.
- Raise $500 for a beautiful, classic keffiyeh from the Hirbawi Textile Factory, the last remaining keffiyeh factory in Palestine. They come complete with a “made in Palestine” tag!
- Raise $1,000 or more for a Threads of Palestine original keffiyeh hoodie (an $80 value). Threads of Palestine also sources their keffiyehs from the Hirbawi Textile Factory, so you're supporting Palestinian businesses at both fundraising levels!
